Four Ukrainian prosecutors work in the international investigation team in the case of the crash of the MH17 flight of Malaysia Airlines, the press service Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has said.
“Now four prosecutors are involved in the work of the international investigation team from the Office of the Prosecutor General. At the national level, the procedural management in this criminal procedure is carried out by nine PGO employees from the department of oversight of criminal cases involving crimes committed during armed conflict,” the PGO said.
It is noted that the prosecutors involved in the case have experience in investigating war crimes, crimes against humanity, terrorist attacks and other most serious criminal offenses.
“When making decisions in this criminal proceeding, the PGO remains a reliable international partner and is in constant communication with foreign colleagues,” the PGO said.
Earlier in the Dutch media there was information about the dismissal of all Ukrainian prosecutors who took part in the investigation of MH17. Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko, in turn, noted that the change of Ukrainian investigators is planned and will not affect the upcoming trial. He also assured that the Ukrainian side would provide all necessary assistance to the Dutch side, which is investigating the case of MH17.
As reported, the Malaysian Boeing, flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur on flight MH17, was shot down on July 17, 2014 in eastern Ukraine. On board were 298 people. All of them died.
