You're reading: 27.7% Ukrainians ready to vote for Zelensky at presidential election, 9.7% – for Poroshenko

Some 27.7% of Ukrainians would support incumbent President Volodymyr Zelensky in a presidential election, if it would be held in April 2020, according to a poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) on April 17-25.

Some 9.7% of respondents said they would vote for the leader of the European Solidarity party, the fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, 8% – for the leader of the Opposition Platform – For Life party, Yuriy Boiko, and 6.3% – for the leader of the Batkivschyna party Yulia Tymoshenko.

Some 4.1% of respondents would vote for the leader of the Strength and Honor party, Ihor Smeshko, 2.8% – for the leader of the Civic Position party, Anatoliy Hrytsenko, 2.3% – for the leader of the Radical Party, Oleh Liashko, 1.2% – for the leader of the Holos party Sviatoslav Vakarchuk, 0.5% – for the leader of the Opposition Bloc party Oleksandr Vilkul, and 2.4% respondents would cast their ballots for other candidates.

According to the survey, 3.6% Ukrainians would cross out all parties in order to spoil their ballots, 20.1% respondents have not decided whom they would vote for, 2.7% refused to answer the question, and 8.5% said they would not vote.

Thus, taking into account the percentage of the respondents, who have decided whom to support, 42.6% respondents would vote for Zelensky, 14.9% – for Poroshenko, 12.2% – for Boiko, 9.7% – for Tymoshenko, 6.4% – for Smeshko, 4.3% – for Hrytsenko, 3.5 – for Liashko, 1.8% – for Vakarchuk, 0.8% – for Vilkul, 3.7% – for other candidates.

The survey was conducted using the CATI method (computer-assisted telephone interviews), based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers. The survey conducted 4,024 interviews in all regions controlled by the government of Ukraine. The sample is representative of the adult population (ages 18 years and older). The statistical error of the sample (with a probability of 0.95 and taking into account the design effect of 1.1) does not exceed: 1.7% for indicators close to 50%, 1.5% for indicators close to 25%, 1% for indicators close to 10%, 0.8% for indicators close to 5%, 0.4% for indicators close to 1%.
