You're reading: Some 20 ships violate ban to visit ports in annexed Crimea

The Ministry for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of Ukraine has said that in the period from February 1 through March 1, 2018, a total of 20 cargo ships violated a ban to enter Ukraine closed ports and terminals in Crimea annexed by Russia.

“From February 1 through March 1 20 ships entered ports of occupied Crimea. All the ships were sailing under the flag of Russia. In general, these ships entered ports of Sevastopol and Kerch 60 times,” the press service of the ministry reported on March 2.

In addition, the ministry said that 18 ships are recorded staying in the water areas of ports of Sevastopol, Feodosia and Yalta without calling at the ports’ terminals: 16 under the flag of Russia and one each under the flags of Tanzania and Malta.
