The celebration is held annually on the last Sunday of August. Last year it was August 26.
Apart from Ukraine, the professional holiday is marked in Belarus, Russia, Estonia, and Kazakhstan. The holiday is associated with Alexey Stakhanov who set a record in the mining at night on August 31, 1935. It let to the beginning of the Stakhanov movement in the future.
