Péter Szijjártó, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that if Ukraine expels the Hungarian consul to Berehove, Budapest will expel a Ukrainian diplomat of the same rank. He said it before his flight to New York, where he is to participate in the session of the UN General Assembly, as Origo reports.

The Minister noted that if Kyiv expels the consul after the scandal with the passports issuance in Berehove, Budapest will have to do the same. He also thinks that recently, anti-Hungarian vibes increased before the elections in Ukraine. According to him, Ukraine violates “the main rules of diplomacy”.
