The Unity Train left Rakhiv, Zakarpattia Region in the west for Mariupol, Donetsk Region in the east on Feb. 16, making a journey of around 1,000 km.
To mark the Day of Unity, the train carried the national flag through 12 regions of Ukraine, the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure reported.
Ukrainian cultural, educational, and sports figures announced words of support and unity for train passengers during the trip.
Well-known figures included the leader of the music band Antibody, UNICEF youth ambassador to Ukraine Taras Topolya, singer Pavlo Zibrov, composer and virtuoso pianist Yevhen Khmara, and Olympic high jump champion Yaroslav Maguchi.
The Day of Unity was celebrated according to the decree issued by President Volodymyr Zelensky on Feb. 14.
Ukrainians in different regions of Ukraine came together to demonstrate their unity to each other.
For this, they carried a Ukrainian flag in different cities. In Severodonetsk, Luhansk Region, locals carried a 200-meter long flag of Ukraine along the main street of the city.
In Mariupol, local residents joined a flash mob with national flags. Ukrainians also came together to celebrate the Day of Unity in Odesa.
Ukrainian schoolmates and teachers celebrated by forming human chains, yellow-blue hearts, singing the Ukrainian national hymn, and patriotic songs, and taking photos with Ukrainian flags.
Tensions between Russia-Ukraine and the West escalated over the weekend after Western media reports claimed that Moscow could launch an attack on Ukraine on Feb. 16.
Russia recently amassed 130,000 troops near Ukraine, prompting fears that the Kremlin could be planning another military offensive against Ukraine.
