Overnight on March 3-4, Ukrainian armed forces repelled another Russian attempt to get closer to Kyiv and penetrate the southern port city of Mykolayiv. Four Russian infantry fighting vehicles and two tanks were destroyed in Brovary, a neighboring suburb of Kyiv directly to the northeast. One combat armored vehicle was seized and is being used by the Ukrainian army, the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated on Facebook.
In Hostomel directly north of Kyiv, the military reported nullifying a Russian paratrooper unit and published a graphic video showing destroyed combat armored vehicles and dead Russian soldiers.
Mykolayiv once again held off another Russian assault on the port city to the south, the region’s governor, Vitaliy Kim, said on his Telegram channel.
Speaking at a nearby airbase, he said, “we destroyed about 30 helicopters and a lot of [Russian military] personnel.”
Also destroyed were “many fuel trucks, many armored personnel carriers, thanks to our friends from the neighboring [Kherson Region,] the Mykolayiv regional governor said.
He added that Ukrainian forces had destroyed “the bulk” of what Russia had at the airfield over the past two days.
