You're reading: New food delivery Noww launches in Ukraine, offers handyman services too

Food delivery mobile applications Glovo, Bolt Food and Rocket played the role of magical genies who could fulfill any gastronomic desire even during the toughest quarantine measures in Ukraine.

And there’s now one more genie in the country — new delivery service Noww, available on Google Play and App Store.

The service, however, doesn’t only deliver food.  Apart from offering courier services, its employees, freelance workers, can also walk a dog, fix a computer or even take the garbage out, according to Noww founder Artem Pavlyukovich.

As of Feb. 24, Noww delivers food only from Kyiv restaurants like Urban Grill, Musafir, SpicyNoSpicy, Pho People, The Burger Mexico and Sushi Avenue. The company will launch the delivery of clothes from the local retailers and big supermarkets (Novus, Metro, Cooker or FoodEx) next month.

The company will deliver food in big purple backpacks to stand out from Spanish Glovo’s yellow, Estonian Bolt’s green and Ukrainian Raketa’s orange brand colors.

Noww promises to bring food in under 30 minutes for Hr 15 ($0.5), while many restaurants deliver within an hour for Hr 60 ($2) or longer depending on the customer’s location.

In Ukraine, the company has to compete with Glovo, Bolt Food, Raketa, Zakaz.ua and dozens of other services that popped up during the pandemic when people stayed home and started to order more food online. These services have thousands of customers and work in different cities. However, Noww doesn’t consider them to be its rivals because they mostly focus on food delivery, while Noww wants to provide diverse services.

Apart from employing 80 couriers, the company has 25 handymen in its network. It’s hiring people through an application form on its website. “Why should you download many apps when you have one Noww?” the company’s website reads.

To encourage customers to use the app, the company offers them a 10-15% cashback on every order. For the first order from the restaurant, users get a 100% cashback, meaning that they receive it almost for free.

Noww tries to attract couriers and handymen by offering high salaries — around $1,000 a month depending on the workload, while the average salary in Ukraine is about $400.

The company also plans to launch its service in Odesa, the city some 480 kilometers south of the capital. Next year, Noww will also roll out its service abroad, but it doesn’t reveal where exactly.
