Ukrainian businessman and leader of Ukraine is Our Home political party Borys Kolesnikov, responsible for the preparation and holding of the European Football Championship 2012, initiated the Olympic Games-2036 in Odesa, and the creation of a sponsorship committee.

At the presentation of the Borys Kolesnikov Black Sea Initiative program, he called for the creation of a sponsorship committee to prepare an application for the Summer Olympic Games in Odesa.

“As experience shows, all the Olympics before the competition in Los Angeles (1984) were unprofitable. Everything changed only when all powers were transferred to private business. Only then the Olympics began to generate income and development for the regions that held them. Barcelona is a prime example in this case. The capital of Catalonia before and after the Olympic Games is just two different cities. Barcelona has received huge investments and is now one of the most visited and recognizable European resorts. Such a large-scale investment project will ensure successful development and employment for many decades to come,” Kolesnikov said.

According to him, the “Black Sea Initiative” goes beyond Odesa and Odesa region and covers the whole region.

“After analyzing the situation in the region, we propose an extensive project, which is conventionally called the Black Sea Initiative, and which, if successful, can expand to the Black Sea-Azov Initiative”. It regards the unification of the potentials of Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions into a single economic macro-region to achieve specific goals in the economy, infrastructure policy and in the management sphere,” Kolesnikov said.
