Sweden has continued to strongly support Ukraine in face of Russia’s full scale invasion that began on February 24 of this year.

According to the Ukrainian Ambassador to Sweden, Andriy Plakotniuk, Sweden has contributed 395 million Euros of military, financial, and humanitarian aid to Ukraine since the war’s start. Moreover, Sweden has welcomed 42,000 Ukrainians and given them “temporarily displaced person” status, thus allowing them to stay in the country. Roughly a third, 13,000, of the Ukrainian refugees are children.

Sweden has given out a great deal of public assistance to Ukrainian refugees, including for cost of living and free usage of various government services, such as museums.

Stockholm has been conscientious in helping the newly arrived Ukrainians to adjust, including helping them to find jobs and for the kids to continue learning. As few Ukrainians, presumably, speak Swedish, there have been grassroots efforts to help the Ukrainian children attend summer camps and other events so that they can begin to learn the language before the start of the new school year next month.
