“A total of 153 cases of attacks and firing on border details and
places of deployment of our units have been recorded on the state border
of Ukraine since June 5. One of the most significant cases in recent
days was the shelling by the Russians of the Dovzhansky checkpoint,
which lasted four-and-a-half hours. Over 250 shells were fired at
Ukrainian border guards,” NSDC spokesman Andriy Lysenko said at a
briefing on Tuesday.

He said that the first provocation on the state border occurred on
April 17, “when the Russians captured one of our border guard details.”
June 5 could be considered the beginning of serious combat attacks on
the positions of Ukrainian border guards from Russian territory, “when
terrorists bypassed the Ukrainian border checkpoint Marynivka and
attacked it from Russian territory.”

“Over this period 27 Ukrainian border guards have been killed and 185
injured. They all were hit with Russian weapons – either as a result of
attacks by terrorists supplied with equipment and ammunition from
Russia, or directly with the hands of the Russian military during
attacks from Russian territory,” Lysenko said.
