Ongoing campaign against Russian aviation

The weekend strikes follow a series of operations targeting Russian aviation assets and infrastructure. On Friday, July 3, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported that its drones struck Russian military airfields in occupied Crimea for the second time in a week, targeting the Saky and Gvardiyske air bases.

The SBU stated that seven hangars storing aviation equipment were hit at the Saky airfield. Preliminary assessments indicate that at least seven aircraft, including Su-30SM, Su-30, and Su-24 models, were destroyed or damaged. The agency also reported strikes on two hangars at the Gvardiyske airfield utilized for storing Shahed drones and other aviation equipment. Both bases are regularly used to launch strikes against Ukrainian territory.

Russian Intelligence Plans Disinformation Campaign to Strain Ukraine-Poland Relations

Russian intelligence services are preparing to release falsified historical documents concerning the Volhynia tragedy on July 5 to exploit historical grievances between Ukraine and Poland.

Earlier in the week, on Wednesday, the SBU reported drone strikes scoring five confirmed hits on aircraft hangars at the Saky air base. The operation resulted in a fire inside a facility housing a Su-30SM fighter jet. The SBU estimated the value of each targeted aircraft at $30 million to $50 million.

The SBU noted that these operations are part of a broader 40-day campaign authorized by President Volodymyr Zelensky, designed to systematically degrade Russian military potential and infrastructure.
