“On the 10th day after the call we already had 150 posters and we
organized a street art exhibition (in Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv),” says Yevhen
Semenenko, project coordinator.

After being displayed at Maidan Nezalezhnosti, the exhibition was taken on tour to Europe. After five exhibitions took place in Netherlands, Italy, Belgium and Poland, the posters are finally on display in Kyiv again.

The exhibition organizers from the Varto group say they expected the call to be responded, since they already were in touch with many foreign designers and
artists. But they were astonished by how many works were sent in.

One of the posters from the exhibition features Lego pieces in the colors of Ukraine’s national flag – they symbolize Ukraine’s intergrity.

The eye-catching images from
the posters served to create postcards as well. Varto sent 10,000 postcards of 10 different designs to the person featured in many of them, Russian president
Vladimir
Putin.

“We
never got a response,” Semenenko says with a smile.

Russian souvenirs can be ambiguous, the poster hints.

While the exhibition only includes 100 posters, the total number of the works submitted from abroad during the five months
of the project is around 1,000. The Kyiv exhibition will be open through Sept. 1. After that, some of the exhibits will be displayed at the Gogol Fest on Sept. 11-21 in Kyiv and Koktebel Jazz Festival on Sept. 11-14 in Odessa Oblast.
