Ukraine needs to close the sky over its energy facilities, Energy Minister Herman Haluschenko said on Monday, Oct.17.

“Simply damaging the line in order to power down the nuclear power plant was not enough for the occupiers. Now they are testing our ability to quickly restore electric substations”, the Minister explained.

“Such nuclear blackmail of the terrorist state cannot be ignored by the international community! Ukraine needs the sky above its power facilities to be closed!”, Halushchenko stressed.

Additionally, the minister said that the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was powered down again.

“The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has been powered down again and is now working on diesel generators. The reason is that the substation, which powered the only line connecting the ZNPP with the Ukrainian energetic system, has been damaged,”

At the same time, Haluschenko appealed to all Ukrainians with an urgent request to reduce electricity consumption during the day and especially during the evening peak hours from 17:00 to 23:00.

“This will help restore and maintain the stability of the power system, which the Russians are trying to destroy,” the minister said.
