Ukraine’s power infrastructure, which has been seriously damaged by heavy Russian shelling over the past month, will be restored thanks to 12 countries that have been providing the necessary equipment.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry website reported on Oct. 31 that the Ukrainian authorities have agreed on deliveries of energy equipment from governments and companies from 12 countries. Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba reported on the delivery of 954 pieces of energy equipment.

Kuleba noted that the Interior Ministry, Energy Ministry, and other authorities and state-owned enterprises have compiled an updated list of needs for rebuilding the energy sector after the Russian shelling. Diplomats are processing requests directly with energy equipment manufacturers in various countries.

“We have already negotiated equipment deliveries from the governments and companies of 12 countries: Finland, France, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Germany, Northern Macedonia, Poland, the Republic of Korea, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain. The issue here is 954 pieces of energy equipment in total. The first deliveries are already in Ukraine, and the rest are expected shortly. We continue to work on increasing the number of partners and the amount of support,” Kuleba said.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Ukraine will receive various types of generators, automatic switches, heat guns, and other equipment from international partners.

Speaking on Oct. 27, Kuleba noted the need for an “energy Ramstein” for Ukraine. Ramstein is a meeting of allied countries at the Ramstein air base in Germany, where representatives of more than 50 countries discuss what they can do to assist Ukraine’s defense and security in the war with Russia.

“There is a need for a series of Ramsteins. A Ramstein for weapons, Ramstein for finance, an information Ramstein is needed too to fight Russian disinformation, to shut down Russian propaganda channels in the world,” he said.

He underlined that an energy Ramstein is becoming especially necessary now.

Russian forces fired more than 50 missiles at Ukraine’s critical infrastructure on Monday, Oct. 31. The Ukrainian military shot down 44 of them. Damage was caused critical infrastructure facilities in Kyiv and Kharkiv Regions, which resulted in significant power and water outages in Kyiv and damaged the transport systems in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city.
