Blinken Dresses His Son as President Zelensky at White House Halloween Party

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken dressed his son up as Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky and his daughter donned the Ukrainian blue-and-yellow colors at the “Hallo-READ!” party hosted by US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.

Blinken’s son could be seen donning a green sweatshirt with a small US-Ukrainian flag pin on the chest, resembling that of Zelensky’s attire often seen in media. Meanwhile, Blinken’s daughter could be seen wearing a blue dress with a yellow cape, matching the colors of Ukraine’s national flag.

The event, which took place at the White House on Oct. 30, featured book giveaways and story readings by the First Lady, government officials and authors. Children from local schools and military families were also invited to the trick-or-treating.

The “Hallo-READ!” theme was chosen by Jill Biden in connection with her background as a teacher for more than three decades. Families in attendance also received books at the event.

According to a White House press release, approximately 8,000 guests were expected to attend the event.

Blinken has been a close ally of Ukraine and paid numerous visits to Ukraine since the invasion, where he announced $1 billion in US aid for Ukraine in a recent visit in September. Future aid for Ukraine from the US remains uncertain after the election of a new speaker in the US House of Representatives, who has opposed future aid for Ukraine.
