Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has discussed the Middle East and agreed on the need to ensure the protection of civilians and respect for humanitarian law.

“President Erdoğan and I discussed the Middle East and agreed on the need to ensure protection of civilians and respect for humanitarian law,” Zelenskyy reported on Friday evening on X (formerly Twitter).

In addition, the presidents discussed the next round of negotiations on the Peace Formula in Malta. “Turkey will take part, adding its authoritative voice and position,” Zelensky noted.

Regarding food security, the President of Ukraine emphasized: “Despite Russia’s disruption of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, Ukraine remains committed to its vital role as a global food security guarantor and enables the functioning of the Black Sea grain corridor.”

Zelenskyy also thanked Erdogan for his continued support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
