“The strike was carried out after the SBU verified the data that the commanders of the enemy fleet are indeed in the military unit,” they said.
On Wednesday, September 20, Ukrainian missiles struck a target near the Belbek airfield near Sevastopol. Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine (HUR), confirmed that it was Ukrainian missiles that carried out the attack.
The SBU source said Russian generals had designated this base as their backup command post so that they would not be found while outside the main location.
While the exact death toll has not been confirmed, according to preliminary information, not only the enemy’s manpower, but also expensive military systems located at this base were damaged.
The source added it was a joint special operation of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Air Force and the Naval Forces of the AFU.
Satellite imagery also appears to confirm the strike.

This is already the second large-scale missile attack on military facilities of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation in Crimea in the last few weeks.
On Sept. 13, Kyiv launched a missile attack on a shipbuilding plant in occupied Crimea, destroying several strategic ships for Russia.
Elsewhere this week, on Wednesday Kyiv also announced two Russian planes and a helicopter had been “significantly damaged” in an attack carried out by “unknown saboteurs” on one of the Kremlin’s main military airfields, 30 km northeast of Moscow.
In a post on Telegram, the Directorate of Military Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR) said the operation was carried out on Monday at the Chkalovsky Air Base and “caused quite a bit of hysteria in the higher military corridors.”
The HUR added: “Unknown saboteurs… planted explosives and detonated AN-148 and IL-20 aircraft (both belong to the 354th special purpose aviation regiment) at the airfield, which is carefully guarded, as well as the MI-28N [Havoc] helicopter, which was actively involved in shooting down attack drones over Moscow region.”
