Russian drone strikes Wednesday damaged Ukraine's Danube river port in Izmail, causing fire and civilian injuries.

A total of seven civilians were injured as a result of the airstrikes of Russian attack drones on the Izmail district. Six men in Reni and one in Izmail, Odesa regional governor Oleh Kiper wrote on Telegram.

Following Russia's withdrawal from a UN-brokered grain deal last July, allowing grain shipments from Black Sea ports, Russia has ramped up its attacks on Ukraine's southern Odesa and Mykolaiv regions, home to ports and infrastructure vital for agriculture exports, AFP reported.

Several groups of strike drones were directed to the Izmail district, Kiper wrote.

Damage to port and other civil infrastructure was recorded... rescuers are putting out the fire.

Earlier, Kiper had urged people in the Izmail district to stay in safe locations until the air raid alerts, which are an almost daily occurrence, stopped.

"The consequences of this brutal and relentless pattern of Russian attacks are catastrophic for the people of Ukraine and the 345 million people facing hunger worldwide," Denise Brown, Humanitarian Coordinator for Ukraine, said in her official statement following another Russian missile attack on the Danube river port.

"It is shocking, but since 17 July, there has been almost one attack every other day hitting vital port and grain facilities in Ukraine," she added.
