A post on the Реальная Война (Real War) Telegram channel on the evening of Monday, June 26 showed the Ukrainian President surrounded by soldiers at a service station somewhere on the highway from Kyiv to the Donbas.

He arrived unannounced, stood in the queue for a coffee from a machine, that a helpful assistant showed him how to use, chatted, laughed and joked with his troops and took endless selfies with them and staff from the service station.

It may have been a carefully orchestrated PR stunt, but it didn’t look like it. The military men were genuinely surprised to see their President there and he seemed to thoroughly enjoy the experience. He was the fictional “Servant of the People” and in the real world he has taken to the role as if born to it – perhaps he was.
