Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the flood-hit southern region of Kherson on Thursday, June 8, as evacuations continued after the destruction of the Kakhovka dam on Russian-occupied territory.

“Working trip to Kherson region. Coordination meeting on the consequences of the Kakhovka HPP dam explosion,” the President wrote on his Telegram channel.

During the meeting, Zelensky touched upon various issues, including the current situation in the region, evacuation of the affected population, emergency response, and support for flooded areas.

Restoring the region’s ecosystem and the military situation in the affected area were also on the agenda.

“It is crucial to assess the damage, allocate funds for compensating the affected residents, and develop a program to support businesses within the Kherson region,” the President emphasized.
