At 8:00 this morning, April 13 a queue of people outside Consulate General of Ukraine building in Krakow were horrified when an elderly man started haranguing them, calling for his fellow countrymen to return to Ukraine and defend their country from the Russians. After a short while, he then doused himself with a flammable liquid and set himself on fire.

 The fire was quickly extinguished by a nearby police patrol and one of the witnesses, using car fire extinguishers, as reported by “Gazeta Krakowska”.

 The injured man, who is believed to be a 62 year-old Ukrainian citizen, was rendered first aid on the spot and then transported by ambulance to hospital, where doctors categorized his condition as “severe, life-threatening”. No other details of his identity are yet known.

 The police are currently working in front of the consulate, collecting testimonies from witnesses.
