Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal is today undertaking his first official visit to Canada.

 Shmyhal will meet with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Toronto. The meeting will also be participated in by: Canada’s Minister for Finance, Christina Freeland, who is of Ukrainian heritage; Canada’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Melanie Jolly, and; Canada’s Minister for Defence Anita Anand.

 According to the respected Kiel Institute Ukraine Support Tracker, Canada is sixth overall in the world in terms of aid to Ukraine since the full-scale invasion by Russia started. It has contributed support to the value of 3.8 billion Euros.

 Some 200,000 Ukrainians have arrived in Canada since the start of the full-scale invasion. With several waves migration from Ukraine to Canada, including the initial one in the late 19th century, some 1.36 million Canadians are of Ukrainian descent, or approximately 3.5% of Canada’s current total population.
