Ukraine and Russia exchanged 202 prisoners of war in a one-for-one swap on Thursday, Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, reported on Telegram.

"We continue to release Ukrainians from captivity. Today, 100 of our soldiers and one civilian are going home. Among the freed soldiers are National Guardsmen, border guards, and soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”

Nearly all the released prisoners of war were defending the besieged city of Mariupol before Russian forces fully captured it, Andriy Yermak added.

Earlier this month, Ukraine's President Zelensky said that since the start of the full-scale invasion last February, Ukraine had secured the release of 1,762 POWs from Russian captivity.
