The Ukrainian national football team has beaten the Czech team with a score of 1:0 and prematurely won the first place in its group of UEFA League Division B, which allows it to play among the best European teams in the next tournament and provides an additional opportunity to break through to Euro 2020.

The only goal in the winning match with the Czech Republic in Kharkiv was scored due to midfielder Ruslan Malynovsky on the 43rd minute.

Ukraine has won all three matches in its group and scored the maximum nine points. The Czech Republic has three points, while Slovakia has nil points. Czech Republic-Slovakia and Slovakia-Ukraine matches in November will not affect which team is to take the first place in the group.

Victory in the group gives Ukraine the right to compete for the victory in the tournament with leading European teams in the next League of Nations.

The League of Nations also provides an additional opportunity to break through to Euro 2020.

In March 2019, the standard qualifying tournament for Euro 2020 will begin. In the final part of Euro 2020 there will be two winners of ten separate qualifying groups (20 teams), the remaining four teams of 24 participants will be determined in March 2020 within the League of Nations. Four winners of each group of their division (Ukraine is among them already) from among those teams that could not pass the main qualification of the Euro, will play according to the Olympic system.

The other groups of the B division in the League of Nations are presented by: Turkey, Sweden and Russia (group B2); Northern Ireland, Bosnia and Austria (group B3); Denmark, Ireland and Wales (group B4). Potential rivals of Ukraine in the play-offs for four trips to Euro 2020 will be determined among these teams.
