“Once again I’m calling on all political forces to cast aside unreasonable intrigues, step over narrow political interests, and stop thinking only about the upcoming parliamentary elections,” Yanukovych said, while opening the first meeting of the Constitutional Assembly in Kyiv on Wednesday.

The head of state expressed confidence that after the parliamentary elections many political forces, including opposition ones, will joint the assembly to take part in work on the main law of the state.

Yanukovych said that he has asked the leadership of the European Commission and the Council of Europe to send their experts for cooperation with the Constitutional Assembly.

As reported, the opposition has refused to join the Constitutional Assembly.
