At a sitting on Friday the CEC registered the party ticket including
42 candidates, in particular the ex-premier’s brother Ivan Lazarenko.

The CEC also registered four candidates for majority constituencies from the Hromada Party.

As reported, on August 5 the congress of the Hromada Party approved
the list of its candidates for people’s deputies. Pavlo Lazarenko and
his brother Ivan, a deputy of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, headed
the list.

As reported, Lazarenko was convicted in the United States of
embezzling funds illegally received and transferring them to foreign
accounts in 1994-1999. A Californian court sentenced Lazarenko to nine
years in prison in August 2006. He remained in his apartment in San
Francisco under house arrest pending the consideration of the appeal
against his conviction.
