The movie stars the U.S. actor Matt Dillon as Jack, and actress Uma Thurman as one of his victims. According to the Guardian, in 2017, von Trier called his new thriller the celebration of “the idea that life is evil and soulless” and added that it is “sadly proven by the recent rise of the Homo trumpus – the rat king.” The British media suggested he was talking about the election of the President of the U.S. Donald Trump.
