It’s presidential election day in the US. Americans have to choose between Democratic candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican candidate and former president Donald Trump.

Today, Nov. 5, Americans are voting for their next president.

The historic election sees Republican Donald Trump going against Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. The results could determine not only Americans future, but also the course of Russia’s war in Ukraine.

All times Eastern Standard Time (EST), which is 7 hours earlier than Kyiv time.

American Election Mosaic in Kosova

8:02 a.m.

In Kosovo, local artist Alkent Požegu created mosaic portraits of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump from grains and seeds.

The original portraits appeared on one of the streets of the city of Gjackova, which is in the western part of the country. 

6:38 a.m.

Representatives of the US election commissions ensured the security of American voting systems.

“Here in Georgia, it’s easy to vote and hard to cheat,” CNN quoted Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger saying. “Our systems are secure and our people are ready.”

Officials Assure Americans That Elections Are Secure

6:38 a.m.

Representatives of the US election commissions ensured the security of American voting systems.

“Here in Georgia, it’s easy to vote and hard to cheat,” CNN quoted Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger saying. “Our systems are secure and our people are ready.”

Election Begins

6 a.m. Voting in the 2024 US presidential election has begun.

The first polling stations opened for in-person voting in the 2024 US presidential election. Polls opened in the states of Connecticut, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Virginia.

The six voters of Dixville Notch, in New Hampshire, were divided equally between Harris and Trump. Dixville Notch is located on the US-Canada border in northern New Hampshire. By tradition since 1960, the precinct is the first to open at midnight EST.
