“I believe that the use of physical violence by Berkut riot police against participants in public rallies could take place only in response to their unlawful actions. I do not support the position of Euromaidan protesters, what is more, I think they’re largely mistaken. However, I’m convinced they have the right to hold protest rallies and defend their position,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
Medvedchuk described the crackdown on Independence Square in the early hours of Saturday as “unacceptable.”
