“As deputy leader of the Batkivschyna All-Ukrainian Union, I would
like to inform you that the party has not made a decision to unite with
other political parties who participated in the elections along with us,
or to create a single party. I did not see such a decision,” he said at
a briefing on Tuesday, when asked whether Batkivschyna will create a
single party with other parties that were included in the Batkivschyna
United Opposition.
“And, most importantly, I think it would be wrong, now and in future,
to change the leader of the Batkivschyna Party, Yulia Tymoshenko. The
Batkivschyna Party [is not] preparing a decision to dismiss Tymoshenko
as party leader and appoint someone else to this post,” he said.
Tymoshenko has headed Batkivschyna since December 1999.
