Ukrainian model Valeriia Karaman starred in a new commercial of Italian fashion brand Diesel.

The video titled “Diesel – Keep the World Flawed” was published on the brand’s YouTube channel on Jan. 22.

The shootings were held in Cape Town, South Africa in November last year.

This is the second commercial in the Diesel’s series “Go With the Flaw.” The first commercial promoting individuality and non-standard beauty was shot in Kyiv last year.

“It was amazing! Really thankful to my agency in Paris for this amazing booking. The process worth the result,” reads Karaman’s Instagram post about the video.

The advertising video features a couple in love who have a baby together. Their newborn boy turns out to have the flaws that his parents at times got rid of by having plastic surgeries – father’s big ears and mother’s long nose.

The commercial ends on a positive note: a happy family enjoys a walk together, as the slogan “Flaws always win” pops up.

Nobody’s perfect. Let’s keep it that way,” the video’s description on YouTube says.

Karaman says that Paris-based production company Division that shoots videos for Diesel found her through her French model agency Premium.

“When they were searching for an actress, I was on the set in Barcelona. I was given a task to hastily shoot a scene of giving birth and send it to the agency,” she told the Kyiv Post.

After Karaman was approved for the role, she went to Cape Town, a coastal city in South Africa, where the shootings were held.

“It was difficult but these shootings gave me a pleasant fatigue,” she said.

The model says she loved the idea of the video. She believes it raises an important point, relevant for the modern society.

“Many people pursue artificial ideals and completely lose their true identity,” the model said.

Karaman added that this was her problem once, too.

“I used to be unsatisfied with some of my features, which were derided by others in my childhood, but it turned out that my eyes, ears, leanness and alien look are my main trump cards,” she said.

After living in Tel Aviv, London and Paris, Karaman moved to Kyiv last year. Today she works for model agencies all over the world.
