The Ukrainian film production company FILM.UA released a showreel at the Cannes Film Festival including clips from films that broadcast traditional Ukrainian values and the striving of the Ukrainian nation for a peaceful and happy life. The reel showcases both past films and coming new releases.

“The showreel was released for the first time at the National Pavilion of Ukraine at Marche du Film, which takes place as part of the 75th Cannes Film Festival. The premiere was released thanks to the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinematography,” the FILM.UA press service reported.

“Today, the film industry is the mouthpiece of our history, a reflection of our strength and courage. FILM.UA now lives by the principle ‘content is our weapon. ‘ Our new topical showreel was intended to display this message in a clear audio-visual form. We are broadcasting this video again, which takes in scenes of films produced and distributed by FILM.UA Group. The issue here is the most important. About the indomitability of our people in the struggle for the right to live freely on our land,” FILM.UA CEO Victoria Yarmoschuk said.

Ukraine’s fight for independence did not begin on Feb. 24., 2022, when Russian troops invaded Ukraine, or in 2014 when the war on Donbas started. It has lasted centuries, since the founding of Kyiv Rus, and each time it proves that Ukrainians are a strong nation that holds on tightly to its land and loves the homeland with a passion. Dozens of films were made and then some of them formed the basis of the showreel produced by FILM.UA.

The showreel consists of clips from many films, which highlight the historical path of opposition of Ukrainians to its enemy, broadcasts fundamental Ukrainian values and love for the homeland. The films listed below are just some of the films that appear in the showreel:

  • “Zakhar Berkut” (2019)
  • “Mr. Jones” (2019)
  • “Cherkasy” (2020)
  • “Wedding Legacy” (2020)
  • “Borsch. The Secret Ingredient” (2020)
  • “The best weekend” (2022)
  • The Great Walk (2022)

Ukrainian films scheduled for release this year also appeared in the reel. Upcoming premieres include “Dovbush,” “Peaceful-21,” “Sniper. White raven,” and “Mavka. The forest song.”

The creator of both the idea and script for the showreel is Dmytro Maystrenko. The soundtrack of the showreel is the song “Hey Rise Up,” performed by Andriy Khlyvnyuk.
