Ukrainian special services investigators have now gathered enough evidence to bring to justice a Russian serviceman suspected of raping and killing Kyiv residents.

His name is Mikhail Romanov, a serviceman deployed to Chebarkul in Russia’s Chelyabinsk Region.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) found out that Romanov committed heinous crimes during the recent occupation of Brovarsky District (Kyiv Region).

Investigators found that being in a state of alcohol intoxication, he broke into the apartment of a young Ukrainian family.

He then immediately killed an unarmed civilian man and raped his wife, threatening to shoot her.

On March 16, Ukrainian journalist Andriy Dzhedzhula published the story of a local woman tortured for three days in the village of Bohdanivka, Brovary District, by soldiers under Romanov’s command.

A woman trying to escape the shelling in the village said the occupiers also broke into the homes of locals and looted people’s homes.

The occupiers killed at least one man in front of his four-year-old daughter. His wife was then brutally raped before managing to escape with her daughter and seek refuge with neighbors.

The SBU continues to expose Russian war crimes and gather evidence for the holding of an international tribunal so that no criminal from Russian invading forces goes unpunished.
