During this ongoing war everything is being tested for strength in a literal and figurative sense: the country, culture, people, cities, ideas, relationships, and technology. So, on the one hand, the fragility of existence is strengthened. On the other hand, the desire for protection and strengthening grows. To preserve themselves, Ukrainians   not only need “nerves of steel” now but iron weapons and an “iron sky” of protection from Russian attacks from the air.

Showing the attributes of war and the terrible reality that has resulted from  brutal aggression, the exhibition is testimony to the power and indomitability of the Ukrainian people, who build an iron sky in artistic projects and restrain the enemy at the cost of amazing courage and self-sacrifice.

“Iron sky” is a metaphor for the fact that God is still in the world, and he covers Ukraine from the enemy with angels’ wings. This is about the iron spirit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the air, which has already turned into “iron” from Russian “hail” and “hurricanes” (soviet-era Grad and Uragany missile launch systems, respectively).   “Iron rain” falls on Ukraine and sprouts its will for freedom.

“Iron sky” is a lofty thought that keeps one’s spirits up in difficult times and faith in the continued supply of military aid, which would help close the sky over Ukraine and create an “iron dome” of protection from air attacks

The iron sky is Ukrainian, and the art of Ukraine turned out to be “armor-piercing.”

Now art inspires, invigorates, and provides strength towards Ukraine’s victory.
