According to Kyiv Post’s sources in the Parliament of Ukraine, Oleksiy Chernyshov, Minister of Communities and Territories Development, might be appointed in his place.
According to the procedure, Vitrenko should be dismissed by the supervisory board of Naftogaz, but the cabinet of ministers, which currently performs the functions of the national assembly, can do it.
Vitrenko was appointed on April 28, 2021 after the dismissal of the previous head, Andriy Kobolyev. In early September, Reuters news service reported that Vitrenko was ready to resign if it would help convince investors to support the proposal to restructure the company’s debt.
