The Ukrainian Armed Forces are already using super-precision systems to intercept Iranian drones, according to an Oct. 26 article in the Israeli publication Debka.

According to the publication, Israel has supplied the Smart Shooter drone destruction system to Ukraine. These fire control systems are equipped with “smart sight” that detects the location and type of drone and makes it possible to destroy it with small arms. They work on the principle of “One shot – one hit” and are controlled by artificial intelligence

Smart Shooter systems are compact. The standard ones weigh around 165 lbs. (75 kg.) and are no more than 37 inches (95 cm.) high. However, lightweight versions can be fitted with guns and even machine guns.

A recent development, the system was first used in September 2022  by the Israeli army to disperse protests in Palestine. However, sponge balls were used instead of live fire.

According to Debka, the system is installed on light aircraft and drones to destroy Iranian drones in Ukraine. Ukrainian Command has not officially commented and the information currently needs to be verified.

Since the beginning of the Russia’s full-scale war, Israel has steadfastly refused to supply Ukraine with weapons, apparently not wanting to spoil relations with Russia. All official requests from Kyiv to provide air defense systems were answered with the reply that Israel is not ready.
