Combat drones believed to be operated by the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of Ukraine conducted an attack in the Belgorod region of Russia, damaging a Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile systems, sources in Ukraine’s HUR told Kyiv Post.
According to the Astra telegram channel, the incident occurred on Thursday, Feb. 29, near the village of Golovchino in the Grayvoronsky district.

Four drones reportedly targeted the area, resulting in explosions that caused damage to a Russian self-propelled anti-aircraft missile and gun system. Additionally, two Russian soldiers were likely injured in the attack, according to Astra.
The Pantsir-S1, developed by the Tula-based Design Bureau of Instrumentation in 1994, is a ground-based anti-aircraft system that has undergone significant modernization since its inception.
It was officially adopted by the Russian Armed Forces in 2012 and is primarily designed to provide close cover for both civilian and military targets against a variety of modern and advanced air attack weapons.
According to Kyiv Post special military correspondent Stefan Korshak, the Pantsir-S1 system is primarily intended for defense against drones and may not be equipped to effectively counter missile threats.
