Former US President Donald Trump mistakenly referred to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán as the leader of Turkey during a campaign speech on Monday Oct. 23.

"There is a man, Viktor Orban, did anyone ever hear of him? He is probably one of the strongest leaders anywhere in the world. He is the leader of Turkey," said Trump, as quoted by the European Pravda publication.

According to Trump, Orban has a "front" with Russia. However, it is worth noting that neither Turkey nor Hungary shares a border with the Russian Federation.

Trump had previously praised Orbán's governance style as an "illiberal democracy" and had hosted him at the White House in 2019.

Orbán was the first European leader to support Trump's 2016 presidential campaign. He continues to publicly endorse the former US president in the upcoming 2024 campaign and in ongoing court cases.

According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, Trump is "a person who can save the Western world and possibly all of humanity."

In late September, President Zelensky responded critically to Donald Trump's proposed plan to halt the war in Ukraine, urging the former US leader to share any insightful ideas directly.

During an interview with CNN, the Ukrainian president was asked for his thoughts on recent comments made by Trump, in which he claimed that he could negotiate an end to the full-scale invasion "in 24 hours."

Ukraine can always benefit from receiving more weapons, but measuring the expected impact of the new American mines provision is more complicated, the expert said.

Trump has repeatedly made this assertion in recent months without providing specific details on how he would achieve it, suggesting only that convening meetings and communicating with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Zelensky would be sufficient.
