On Monday, July 3, Sumy experienced a Russian attack. The city center was targeted with four Shahed drone strikes, resulting in damage to the administrative building and two multi-apartment residential buildings. The State Service for Emergency Situations reported significant destruction caused by the Russian attacks in the center of Sumy.

During his address to Ukrainians, President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that on the night of July 3, Russian Iranian- manufactured kamikaze drones also struck a building used in Sumy by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

Zelensky highlighted the insufficient number of high-quality air defense systems to fully protect the entire territory of Ukraine and neutralize all enemy targets.

"The enemy is taking advantage of this by inflicting another terrorist attack on the city of Sumy, in particular on residential buildings, as well as on the SBU building," the president noted.

He urged the need to exhaust all avenues, even those that seem impossible, to establish the strongest possible air defense system in Ukraine.

Oleksandr Lysenko, the Mayor of Sumy, reported that the number of fatalities resulting from the attack on a residential high-rise by Russian kamikaze drones has risen to 3, while 21 individuals were wounded, of which 4 individuals remain hospitalized as a result of the enemy's assault.

In honor of the victims, July 4 has been declared a day of mourning in the city.
