The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) plans to increase the volume of its humanitarian activities in Mariupol.

Robert Mardini, general director of the ICRC said this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

“Just yesterday, we managed to distribute 1,500 sets of humanitarian aid. We understand that needs are much greater. We will increase the volume of our activities,” Mardini said.

Also, according to him, the ICRC will continue to provide assistance to Mariupol hospitals — medical equipment and medicines, as well as targeted food and financial assistance to restore housing to people in the temporarily-occupied city.

“In total, throughout Ukraine, during the war, the ICRC provided monetary assistance to restore housing to 300,000 people,” Mardini confirmed.

The humanitarian situation in occupied Mariupol remains catastrophic. Not all residents have access to the basic necessities of  food and water.

Water is taken from a reserve reservoir in Crimea. According to the latest estimates, there is water for a maximum of six months.

Some markets and shops are open in Mariupol. They work under occupation control, so the prices there are exorbitant. For the vast majority of people, food products from there are simply not available.

Even the money that Russian invaders pay people from time to time is not enough to exist.

The medical situation in Mariupol is also extremely difficult as necessary medications are lacking.

Erdogan’s initiative reportedly includes Ukraine delaying discussions on NATO membership for at least a decade, a move described as a "concession to Putin."

Of course, the Ukrainian side is making an effort to improve the situation. But the occupying forces are preventing any such attempts and not allowing in humanitarian aid from Ukraine.  Russian propaganda denies everything, and says that “everything is great in Mariupol”.
