The Moldovan authorities temporarily closed and then re-opened the country's airspace, according to the country’s largest national airline Air Moldova.
Airspace was closed from 11:24 till 14:47 local time "for security reasons, to ensure the safety of civil aviation flights," the airline's representatives noted.

On Feb. 10, the Ministry of Defense of Moldova reported that a missile crossed the country's airspace. It flew over Mokra city and Kosauts city and was understood to be heading toward Ukraine. After the incident, the Russian ambassador was summoned to the Moldovan Foreign Ministry.
On Feb 13, Moldovan President Maya Sandu claimed that the Russian leadership is preparing a plan to overthrow the current authorities in Moldova. According to Sandu, Moscow expects to change Moldova's course from pro-European to pro-Russian through violent actions. In this regard, the president issued a demand to expand the powers of the security agencies.
