The body of one of two missing British men who disappeared in eastern Ukraine has been found, according to Russia's Wagner Group.

Andrew Bagshaw, 48, and Chris Parry, 28, were last seen heading to the town of Soledar on Jan. 6, the location of ongoing intense fighting.

The Wagner group's press service said on Jan. 11 a body had been found but did not say which of the two men it was. The documents of both British citizens were reportedly found beside the body.

The U.K. Foreign Office, which has not confirmed the claim, said it was supporting the families of the two men.

Sky News has previously reported that Bagshaw and Parry were volunteers engaged in evacuating civilians from the war zone.

Speaking in a television interview in November 2022, Parry said that shortly after the start of the Russian invasion, he decided to go to Ukraine and crossed the border on March 5.

Initially, the man expected to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), but later became engaged in volunteering and humanitarian aid dispatching.

In early January, Parry, speaking in an interview with BBC News, reported on "continuous" shelling by the Russian military.

Earlier this week, Parry’s family said they were extremely worried about his whereabouts. They also mentioned being proud of their son for liberating elderly and disabled people in war-torn Ukraine.

The vessels, often carrying Russian oil and gasoline but flying the flag of another country, allow the Kremlin to keep exporting despite sanctions on exports and an oil price cap on its global sales.

Bagshaw’s parents, who live in New Zealand, said they were also proud of their son for all his work helping Ukrainians. They said he had been delivering food and medicine, and helping the elderly.
