You're reading: Miss Belarus 2008 Khizhinkova remanded in custody for 3rd time for taking part in protests

Olga Khizhinkova, a Belarusian model and the winner of the Miss Belarus 2008 beauty pageant and a participant in the Miss World 2008 international pageant, has been given another 15 days of arrest.

“Today, a trial took place already over the third case of Olga’s participation in protests. The evidence of her guilt was substantiated by an Instagram photo and a video recorded on Oct. 25. The court sentenced Olga to another 15 days of arrest,” the Belarusian foundation for the solidarity of athletes said on Nov. 26.

Khizhinkova won’t be given a cumulative sentence in addition to her two previous sentences when she was given 12 and 15 days of arrest, her lawyer told the tut.by the website. Therefore, her term of arrest began on Nov. 26. She is to be released from custody on Dec. 11.

As reported, Khizhinkova was detained at an unauthorized protest in Minsk on Nov. 8. On Nov. 11, Minsk’s Zavodskoi District Court gave her 12 days of arrest. The Belarusian model was sentenced to 15 days of arrest the next day.
