MINSK – A mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)’s International Physical Protection Advisory Service (IPPAS) is now working on the premises of the Belarusian nuclear power plant; the visit will end on July 1, the Belarusian Energy Ministry said in a statement.
“Experts of the IAEA International Physical Protection Advisory Service (IPPAS mission) are now working on the premises of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. They will be studying materials related to the functioning of the Belarusian NPP’s physical protection and will visit plant facilities in the course of two days,” the statement said.
The mission will assess the provision of the physical protection of nuclear materials and nuclear reactors, as well as the physical protection of nuclear material in transit, and will review information and computer security.
The mission consists of experts from Russia, France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and the United States.
As reported earlier, the first reactor unit of the Belarusian NPP was commissioned on June 10. The unit was launched in August 2020.
