Russia should not violate international law and should be held accountable for its illegal annexation of Crimea, Ukrainian Prime Minster Arseniy Yatsenyuk has said.

“Russia, which is formally a UN member and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, Russia, which, like Ukraine, is a co-founder of the United Nations, has no right to destroy international law, the UN Charter, basic principles, rights and freedoms of citizens. Russia should pay the price for the illegal annexation of Crimea and aggression against Ukraine,” he said at an event in Kyiv on May 18 to mark the 71st anniversary of the deportation of the Crimean Tatars.

He went on to say that the task for Ukraine and the international community is to return Crimea in deeds and not in words.
