Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin has met with the British Ambassador to Ukraine Simon Smith.

During their meeting, Shokin suggested that a joint working group on the investigation of proceedings against former senior Ukrainian officials should be created.

“The Prosecutor General suggested creating a joint working group with the involvement of British experts and specialists. Its goal would be to investigate cases of former high-ranking officials, the actions of whom effect the UK,” the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) reported on June 19.

Shokin also expressed his gratitude for the cooperation of the UK National Crime Agency in investigating criminal proceedings involving former high-ranking officials.

In turn, Ambassador Smith said the UK will continue to support the reform of prosecution agencies in Ukraine. He said the UK was prepared to provide necessary expert assistance in the investigation of criminal proceedings related to Ukraine.
