BRUSSELS - The OSCE is concerned about the situation in Ukraine, OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier has said.

He told reporters in Brussels on Nov. 12 that the OSCE saw how military armament comes to the region, which is covered by the ceasefire.

He said that one of the main problems was the lack of freedom of movement for OSCE mission members on the territory controlled by militants.

“We do not have enough freedom of movement, especially when we want to reach the Ukrainian borders,” Zannier said.

He noted that one of the problematic areas was the area close to Ukraine’s Mariupol, where observers are unable to get to the territory controlled by militants.

“This is one of the directions where we are concerned. There is military pressure in this area, but we do not have access,” Zannier said.

He also noted that the second direction was the Ukrainian-Russian border.

“We cannot physically get to the Ukrainian border from the side of Ukraine due to security concerns, but also due to obstacles from the local authorities,” he said.
