Ukraine's representative to the European Union Kostiantyn Yeliseyev has asked the EU leadership to respond to the actions of Russian actor Mikhail Porechenkov.

“On Oct. 31, in a letter to the leadership of the European External Action Service, Ukraine representative to the EU Yeliseyev urged the EU to properly respond to the egregious crimes of Russian actor Porechenkov near the Ukrainian airport in Donetsk,” reads a statement released by Ukraine’s Mission to the EU on Friday.

Yeliseyev said that “the actions of the Russian actor directly undermine the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.”

“Such actions fall under the criteria for the introduction of personal sanctions by the EU, in particular, a travel ban and asset freeze,” reads the report.

The Ukrainian diplomat also said that when shelling the positions of Ukrainian servicemen, the Russian actor was wearing a helmet marked “Press,” indicating the abuse and violations of international norms in the field of safety of journalists.

Earlier, a video was posted on the Internet on which Porechenkov, during his visit to Donetsk, and militants opened fire from a large-caliber machine gun in the direction of the Donetsk airport, which is held by Ukrainian troops.

The Security Service of Ukraine and the Interior Ministry instituted criminal proceedings against Porechenkov for participation in the activity of illegal armed groups and terrorist activities.
