Ukraine will abandon its non-bloc status with the adoption of a new law on domestic and foreign policy fundamentals, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said.

“The non-bloc status of Ukraine should be abolished, and Ukraine will pass a new law on domestic and foreign policy fundamentals which will end its non-bloc status. The Ukrainian army should fully meet NATO standards,” Yatsenyuk said in his opening remarks at a government meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

Kyiv will annually approve a Ukraine-NATO action plan for this purpose, he added.
